If I have it, I add a little chicken or beef broth, and veggies to the rice. I try to use only home made broth from boiling chicken, with no salt added. Canned broth contains alot of sodium, but Gypsy needs sodium because of her disease.
Earl, my old German Shorthair can't have sodium (heart problems), so he gets plain rice with chicken and chopped, cooked veggies. Cooked Carrots, Celery, and Parsley is good for dogs, I've heard, if chopped. They can't digest large pieces. Earl doesn't chew his food, he gupls it down in one bite!
A few years ago, I found a list of people food that is good, and bad for dogs on the ASPCA website. I need to go back and look that up again.
Check with your vet before giving any people food to your dogs.
The chicken we feed them is usually left over from a whole chicken that I cooked for us, and made 2 meals out of already. Either chicken enchaladas or chicken salad, then soup. I only buy chicken when it is on sale, and stock up. It saves money to buy a whole chicken, especially if it's on sale. If you don't like cutting it up, either bake, boil, or barbeque it. After it's cooked, it cuts nicely, or just falls apart.
